ZTHI - CHINA

Zhoushan Tongzhou Heavy Industry (ZTHI) Shipyard, part of NASCO Group, is based in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, China, a region that has become one of the country’s most important shipbuilding and repair clusters. Its location on the East China Sea provides direct access to international trade routes and places it within reach of major ports such as Ningbo and Shanghai. Being part of the wider Zhoushan maritime industrial zone, ZTHI benefits from shared logistics, suppliers, and a skilled regional workforce, making it strategically positioned to serve global shipowners.

FACILITIES

ZTHI operates some of the largest drydocks in the Zhoushan area, with graving docks capable of handling vessels up to 400,000 DWT, including VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers) and large bulk carriers. The yard also maintains floating docks, outfitting quays, and extensive crane capacity for heavy-lift operations. Its workshops cover steel fabrication, hull and piping works, machinery overhauls, and electrical systems. In addition to conventional repair and maintenance, ZTHI has facilities for large-scale retrofits, including ballast water treatment systems, scrubber installations, and other environmental upgrades required by international regulations.

CORE STRENGTHS

The core strength of ZTHI lies in its sheer scale and capability to handle the world’s largest commercial vessels. Few yards globally can accommodate VLCCs and Capesize bulkers as efficiently as ZTHI, making it a go-to choice for owners of large tonnage. The yard combines modern infrastructure with strong project management, enabling it to deliver high-volume repairs, retrofits, and class surveys within competitive timeframes. Its integration into the Zhoushan shipbuilding hub further enhances its service capacity, ensuring reliable supply chains and fast access to materials and expertise.
