NASCO - China

NASCO Shipyard is based in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, one of China’s key shipbuilding hubs along the East China Sea. The company operates across two sites on separate islands: Ce’zi Island, which houses its primary yard with direct access to deepwater channels, and Changbai Island, a nearby sister facility. Together, these locations offer more than 200,000 square meters of operational space and 800 meters of coastline, strategically situated just a short distance from major ports such as Ningbo Beilun and Dinghai, and within driving reach of both Ningbo and Shanghai airports. This positioning allows NASCO to serve international shipping lanes efficiently while also tapping into China’s robust maritime infrastructure.

Facilities

Across its Ce’zi and Changbai yards, NASCO operates four large dry docks ranging in size from 280 meters to 350 meters in length with capacity to handle vessels up to 200,000 DWT. The yards are equipped with rail cranes up to 60 tons, a transformer station with emergency power generation, an on-site liquid oxygen plant, and a full air compressor system. Dedicated workshops cover hull, mechanical, electrical, and piping works, while the yards also provide co-located turbocharger and governor repair services through partnerships with COSCO-RIKKY. This infrastructure supports both new construction and major repair programs, enabling the yard to handle more than 60 vessels annually.

Core Strengths

NASCO’s core strength lies in its combination of scale and versatility. The dual-yard setup provides the flexibility to accommodate a wide spectrum of projects, from large tanker and bulk carrier dockings to mid-sized commercial vessels requiring specialised retrofits. The yard’s modern facilities are complemented by strong technical teams and responsive project management, making NASCO a competitive choice for international shipowners seeking reliable newbuilds or timely repair turnarounds. Its strategic location near major Chinese and international ports also positions it as a cost-effective and accessible partner for global shipping companies.
